Objectives: - The development of a common system for determining the energy resources and reduce waste in the region. - Systematically reducing the amount of waste going to landfills or in the environment. - Promoting the reuse and re-integration of the waste to recycling. - Promotion and rising public awareness about importance of waste separation. - Re-use of these secondary sources and the promotion of recycling methods, which may be regarded as an economic activity and an essential part of sustainable development in the participating regions. - Re-use of waste and converting them into new products creates new jobs and reducing operating costs, which means added value to the economy of the region. Descriptions / Results: - Production of website about the project. - Production of 12000 leaflets / country, 2000 posters and 3 electronic newsletters. 2 press conferences and 5 press releases. 2 publications. - 5 info days in - 1 Common Transnational Resolution on Zero Waste application - 1 Questionnaire on waste management methods – 1 Common Report of Analysis of Zero Waste Systems. - Study on the implementation of a composting facility for household biowaste - Report on assessment of Pilot Applications. - 1 Transnational SWOT Analysis on waste management concepts – 5 National inventories of best and worst practices of waste management. - 2 Seminars for the involvement and transfer of know how for munical servants and policy makers. - 1 Overall handbook on the implementation procedure of alternative waste management. |
